The Glamour Summer Edit 2016

Often, my friends and family and sometimes readers of Mrs Jonas Recommends ask me for beauty and skincare advice. I’m no certified expert (just yet) but where I can, I advise as best as I could based on my own experiences, good or bad. What often crops up into conversation is where I get my skincare advice from or how do I discover new products or brands. There is no clear answer for this. I am just a fully bonafide sponge of beauty absorption be it through the media, via a brand or a press release, celebrity endorsement or just browsing down the aisles of a drug store or department store. One source that I respect and follow is that of beauty directors such as Alexandra Steinherr. Following her on social media especially Snapchat, I know that she is actually trying and using the brands that she is recommending to Glamour readers and to her fans and not just simply saying that she loves them all. This year’s Glamour Summer Beauty Edit is just a touch on Glamour’s beauty editor’s favourite summer finds.

What’s in the box?

Glamour Summer Beauty Edit 2016

Grounded chocolate orange body scrub – If you are a coffee lover then you really are in for a treat and even better if you like chocolate orange. I’ve used coffee scrubs before and I actually prefer them to sugar scrubs. The finer granules exfoliate the skin more effectively and the essential oils leave your skin super smooth and oiled up! The only downside is that the granules can and do get everywhere. I would advise that you leave that extra five minutes in the morning to fully rinse the bath or shower out so that you don’t get any coffee stains in your bath!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip colour – Matt glosses are everywhere and are not a new creation by any means! But since the rise of the Kylie Jenner Lip kits, Matte lip colours have come full circle and taken centre stage. I’m not suggesting that you go out and spend a fortune on a lip kit  as many high street brands such as Revlon are producing amazing mattes of better quality and at a fraction of the price. This shade of nude or pink nude should suit most skin tones and I am happy to say that I’ve been wearing it all afternoon. For a matte lip, it sure feels hydrating and creamy! I’m sold!

Oribe Dry Texturising Spray – At this time of year, we see the resurrection of the sea salt spray or the full on beach waves look. Sea salt I like but find that it’s better to use on holiday when you know you are going to be washing your hair the very next day but texture spray?…I’d say, “Now you’re talking!” It’s a product that sits somewhere in-between a root lift and a hair spray and I’m all ears. This product is favoured by some of the world’s biggest hair pros. I’m just wondering why I’m so late to the game!

St Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mist – No summer box would be complete without a tanning item and whilst I don’t need it at all, from what I’ve heard, St Tropez is a well known staple. This tanning mist is quick and designed to give your skin an instant streak-free airbrushed golden glow.

Ladival Sun Protection Spray SPF30 – Whether you’re on holiday or out and about on a normal day come rain or shine, SPF is the holy grail and should be incorporated into your daily routine. This brand is doing the rounds and has got itself a bit of a reputation as a powerhouse as it protects you daily from Infrared-A rays, UVA and UVB rays.

Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil – Anything from Nuxe smells absolutely divine, thus, this shower oil didn’t last long. With notes of orange blossom, vanilla and magnolia, it’s the perfect post tanning oil but also great to use all year round.

Aurelia Miracle Cleanser and Bamboo Muslin Cloth – Creamy cleansers that are not harsh on the skin are perfect when you want to thoroughly cleanse your face but don’t want to overwork it after exposure to the sun. This cleanser is not the cheapest on the market when buying it full size but its probiotic ingredients speak for themselves. This miniature version is a good introduction to the brand.

WOW Luxury Facial Mask – Inspired by Asian beauty rituals, face masks have seen a total make over and in the form of a sheet mask. These serum-induced sheets are placed on the face (which can look a bit scary) and are left to work their magic. The Wow sheet mask is packed with collagen-boosting ingredients to plump the skin and leave it looking radiant. I, too, was a bit skeptical about these sheet masks but now I can’t get enough of them! And their single use packaging makes them easier to pack when travelling.

The Glamour summer beauty edit is worth a £104 and can be yours for just £20!
