The Autumnal Make Up Switch Up

There is no element of surprise when it comes to my makeup routine. I tend to play pretty safe when it comes to colours, sticking to (or trying to achieve that healthy glow) something that is as near to my natural colourings at that time. So I would say, for me, I’m pretty boring. Evenings out or on those odd days when I tend to be a bit daring, it’s usually my lip shade that changes to a brighter shade of pink or red as opposed to the more acceptable nude/brown/pink shades that I have grown to be every comfortable using on a daily basis. Currently, being based and working out of a central London office, one gets to experience all types of fashion tastes/styles; and with beauty counters, beauty stores and high street beauty brands just a few steps away, it’s time for a makeup switch! So here’s what I’ve opted for:
Stila Makeup Palette
Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation in Deep* – Being water-based, this foundation is perfect to use like a layering product. Applying just like a serum, a little goes a long way and the skin gets an almost radiant glow that gives a glowing dewy effect. I found that this particular foundation – due to its consistency – was easier to apply using my fingers and then finishing with a brush on areas that needed that extra bit of love. I think that using a sponge with this will waste a lot of product by it just getting absorbed in the sponge. Its ingredients consist of Hyaluronic Acid and essential Minerals necessary for skin hydration – just what my skin needs as the tan fades and winter kicks in.

Still Perfect Me Eye & Cheek Palette in Tan/Deep* – Keeping with the brand Stila, I’ve opted for a perfect me palette as it’s small in size and dual purpose. (So easy to carry in my handbag!) All these colours are highly pigmented and I’m really impressed by how the eyeshadows glide on without creating too much of a mess in after fall. Whilst I’ve gone for the more darker toned option, I think that anyone who doesn’t have really fair skin could use this palette as, even for me, it’s pretty neutral in colouring. The eyeshadow flirty is the perfect Autumnal shade to use in the crease of the eye if you are not that confident to use it all over.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in Crazy Plum – I recently met the lovely Geradd cosmetics team who, whilst discovering my life story, initiated me into the world of Gerard Cosmetics and colours that I would maybe be too scared to try or think wouldn’t suit my skin tone. Keeping with the current trends, one of the shades that I walked away with was Plum Crazy, a deep purple almost aubergine colour that I can’t stop staring at. Applying like a gloss, these hydrating matte liquid lipsticks dry quickly with impressive staying power. The one standout point for me was that my lips did not dry out and I barely had to reapply. If you love liquid lipsticks and matte lip products, then I highly recommend trying some of Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Mattes.

Nails Inc Nail Polish in Sloane Mews – Lastly, after digging into my Nail Polish Hamper (yes! I have a hamper full) out came this gorgeous purple/maroon shade, the colour of which simply never loses its appeal. I find darker colours such as this to be trickier to wear so, wearing a good base coat and good top coat is essential for staying power!

Have you switched up your makeup routine for Autumn?
