Summer Beauty Tips for Skin, Body and Hair

Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. During the summer months, we tend to sweat more so it’s really important to replenish lost body fluids.  If you get thirsty then you are already dehydrated.  My top tip is to always carry a recyclable bottle of water with you as a constant reminder to drink more.  If you really need reminding then try setting a reminder or a diary invite to prompt you to take a break and drink your fill throughout the day. That way, if you are still on your first bottleful then you know you have some catching up to do.

Face Cream with SPF Protection – I always use a face cream containing an SPF rating on my face, not only to protect me from the sun’s rays but to also protect me against any environmental influences.  If you find that your skin gets quite oily during the summer months then opt for a lightweight moisturiser like the Nivea Daily Essentials Light Moisturising Day Cream with SPF 15. It’s great for hydrating and refreshing the skin whilst providing SPF 15 protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

BB Creams – The magic lightweight formula that will have you questioning whether you will ever use foundation again.  A BB cream is a cross between a primer and very lightweight foundation that covers any skin imperfections, hydrates the skin and provides, in most cases, a universal cover.  It blends in like a cream and can be used on its own or as substitute for your foundation.

Body

Balanced Diet – Summer is the perfect time to get the BBQ out and grill some meat or vegetables to be accompanied with a simple side salad. The perfect way to improve your cooking skills, get adventurous and eat healthy. Waitrose has some fantastic simple recipes in its store and online to help you cook using seasonal fresh food.

Pedicure – During the summer months it’s time to show those toes and feet some well-deserved TLC after being cooped up in shoes and boots all winter. Most people overlook their feet but foot health care is essential to keep us mobile and healthy. So if you can’t afford a salon pedicure, a simple foot file and a bright nail polish will do!

Dry Body Oils – Hydrate the skin with a multipurpose dry oil.  Dry oils are brilliant multipurpose oils that are perfect when you are travelling and can be used on the body, face and hair all year around. When it comes to such oils, I go for Hulie Prodigieuse by Nuxe, a multipurpose blend that contains six precious plant oils that hydrates and conditions my body, face and hair.

Hair

Protection from the sun – Hair, whether coloured or not, gets damaged and dries out from the sun’s rays. The easiest way to protect your hair is to wear a hat. For prolonged times in the sun, invest in a hair protection spray factor 15 and above.

Condition – With the damage inflicted on our hair on a daily basis as a result of artificial heat from hairdryers and styling tools plus the natural sun heat, it is more important than ever to take time to condition our hair. It is a must so that it receives the nourishment it needs to remain healthy.

Haircut – Summer is a perfect time to get a trim and sport a new look. After all, you have all summer for it to grow back!
