Skintreats By Pixie Beauty
Is there anything the Swedes don’t do well? When it comes to simplicity, quality and affordability, they have got it nailed down to the T! Wondering what I’m talking about? Well, brands like Ikea, H&M and Pixi Beauty of course. The first two brands are so well known that I’m sure everyone I know has at least one item from one of those brands. Pixie Beauty by Petra Strand, on the other hand, is the underdog of the bunch. Having been a bit of a secret from the mass market even though it has been running since 2010, it has, only recently, started getting a bit of a cult like status with celebrities and beauty bloggers swearing by the Pixie Glow Tonic. And in case you are wondering, yes I am one of the converted!
So what exactly is Pixie Beauty?
Pixie Beauty is the brand created by Petra Strand, a makeup artist and product developer with over ten years of experience in the beauty industry. Petra had a vision to simply bring out the natural beauty in all women, to make women look like themselves, only better! With that came the launch of the Pixie Beauty brand which still remains core to its mission statement and more importantly, affordable to the masses!
So whilst I want to literally smother myself in everything Pixie, I’ve managed to restrain myself and just for now stick to the skin treats part of the range! Here’s what I have been testing out over the past few weeks!
Glow Tonic – £18
I have always grown up with the mantra that you must cleanse, tone and moisturise! I have been perfectly fine with it just not the tone part. I totally detest toners not because I don’t believe in what they do but more because I hate the clammy residue that some toners leave. It is only since I started using Micellar waters that I have really started venturing down the toner route again. So with that and after reading all the fabulous reviews on the Pixie Glow Tonic, I simply had to buy and try some out myself! The Pixie Glow Tonic is an oxygenating, exfoliating facial tonic containing aloe vera and ginseng. To be used after cleansing, the tonic removes dead skin cells and leaves skin looking brighter. Perfect for removing any remaining dirt from the day and best of all no clammy feeling! I have been converted! A 200ml Pixie Glow Tonic can be bought for £18 here.
Hydrating Milky Mist – £18
Next that I have been testing out is the hydrating milky mist. I have never really tried a mist before (unless you count a makeup setting spray as a mist). I do have to say I wasn’t really sure whether a mist was really a necessity item in my beauty routine and was questioning whether this was something that I would soon forget about using. The hydrating Milky mist is a very light mist that provides the skin with that extra layer of hydration. The solution contains hyaluronic acid to plump the skin whilst a blend of black oat, provitamin A and linoleic acid rejuvenated the skin. The hydrating milky mist is the perfect first layer of hydration to wear before applying a serum or your daily makeup. I found that the mist worked better for me in the evening especially after I’ve showered or used a facemask. I left it for a few minutes to set into my skin and then applied the Pixie Sleep Mask before I went to sleep. This is something I will be buying by the masses for the summer months. Such a shame that I was SO late to the game! The Hydrating Milky Mist can be bought for £18 here.
Being a great user of a sleep mask, I was excited to actually go to sleep and see what magic would occur with the nourishing sleep mask. This mask is rich in fruit and flower seed oils and over all, the formula soothes, moisturises and plumps the skin. It can be used alone or on top of any serum. As mentioned above, I’ve used it on top of the milky mist and that worked well for me. Unlike other sleep masks, this one made my skin feel as smooth as a baby’s bottom in the morning so much so that I didn’t actually want to wash my face. The other benefit of this mask is that it comes in a handy squeeze tube, a bit like a toothpaste (hence no mess) and easy to carry if travelling vs a large tube! The Nourishing Sleep Mask can be bought for £18 here.
Have you tried anything from Pixie Beauty? Me… well I think it’s time to get my hands on some makeup!
