Paul and Joe Cosmetics

When you hear the name Paul and Joe, beauty items are not what spring to mind first (well for me anyway). It’s always been fashion! However, when I started to see these cute little Cat lip sticks popping up everywhere in my Instagram feed, it was time to investigate! Having been launched way back in 2002, the Paul and Joe beauty collection fully encompasses the brands ethos of playful fun. Each eyeshadow and lips stick is highly pigmented and rich in not only colour but design with quirky packaging that really sets the brand aside from the crowd. It’s the kind of gift that you’d want for yourself but could easily give to your granny or younger sister. After all, who doesn’t love a cute cat?!

So what have I been testing out?

Paul & Joe Perfect Makeup Primer – £30

The Paul and Joe primer is a lovely smooth makeup primer that literally feels like silk on your skin. Doubling up as a primer and very light liquid foundation, this is perfect for someone who doesn’t like wearing thick coverage. Also great during the summer months when you have a slight tan. The packaging oozes luxury. I particularly love the pump top nozzle and with a lot of primers, you can get the standard squeeze tube option. There isn’t anything that I don’t like about this product. The one slightly negative point is that it comes in only two shades, more to the lighter end of the spectrum. So whilst I would love to lather this all over my face, unfortunately, it is too light. From what I did test on my hand and from my fellow beauty lovers, this still gets a 10/10. Hopefully some darker shades will be available soon.

Paul & Joe Autumn 2015 Eye Color – £18

Next we have the Paul and Joe Cafe Macchiato with an owl design as part of their Autumn 2015 Eye collection. Now for those of my close family and friends who really know me know that I love owls! (If I could actually have a pet owl I would!). When I saw this dreamy swirly brown bronze colour, I knew I simply had to try. Created with the inspiration of swirly coffees and frothy milk, this eyeshadow glides onto the eyelid and blends in well. What I personally loved (yes, not liked but loved and I’m starting to sound a bit like Simon Cowell here) was that the mixture of both the colours gave a subtle two tone effect that didn’t need to be blended on the eyelid. Simply the perfect shade to take your makeup look from day to night! The Autumn Collection comes in three shades: Cafe Macchiato, Raspberry Truffle and Caramel Drizzle.

Paul and Joe Lipstick Refill £14 and Case £7

Then finally we have the Paul and Joe Lipstick and Case. These cute AW cat designs have taken the lipstick market by storm, so much so that stocks are limited. This creamy lip formula is highly pigmented and really too cute to use. The two tone lip colour is quite a novelty and gives what could be a standard red colour a unique twist. The Cat lip colours come in three shades: Cafe Espresso (above), Coffee Cherry and Cafe Parisian. The lipsticks mostly come as a refill which is very different for this day and age, and fit perfectly into one of the Paul and Joe Lipstick cases. A bit old fashioned but very cute at the same time. Bring back the lip stick cases!
