New Spa Of The World Collection

With the end of summer drawing in to a close, I’d say what a summer it has been! I don’t think that I and Mr J have stopped with hens, stags, weddings, baby showers and house warmings. It really has been a fun filled summer. Whilst we still have a few momentous occasions in our diary  (not forgetting a sneaky little bit of end of summer sun) it’s time for me to start thinking about those long winter nights ahead. Yes cosy nights snuggled on the sofa with a glass of red wine are always high on the list of priorities as is a bit of pampering. Whilst I would love to go and check myself into a spa, my annual leave allowance would say otherwise. So where do I look for an easy home spa solution? None other than one of my favourite brands, The Body Shop! Earlier this month The Body Shop launched their Spa Of The World Collection, bringing us an indulgent yet affordable range of products that package up traditional beauty rituals from around the world.  These rituals are split into three: Relaxing, Revitalising and Blissful!  Let’s take a closer look….

Relaxing

We all get run down and tired. Let’s face it: commuting to work every day for an hour – there and back – is justification enough for a bit of pampering. It is also a good reason to unwind on a relaxing night out or be made as part of your Sunday routine.

Here are The Body Shop’s recommendations for the Relaxing ritual.

Firstly start with a scrub to gently exfoliate and revive the skin (try the African Ximenia scrub for £18). The scrubs’  ingredients are handpicked in Namibia from the ‘Tree of Life’, the ximenia fruit.  The seeds give a luxuriously rich oil, leaving skin feeling smooth and soft. Next, treat your body to a clay mask (this I have never thought of doing at home, only when I’ve been in a spa and had a Hamman treatment). Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay (£16).

Then relax in a Egyptian Milk and Honey Bath (£14). If you still have a little steam left, it’s time to moisturise and hydrate your skin with Japanese Camellia Cream (£23) and finish of will a few drops of French Lavender Massage Oil (£14) on your pulse points.

Revitilising

For when its not just your body but your mind that needs a lift as well!

The quick and easy three step routine starts with the Dead Sea Salt Scrub (£20), to remove dead skin and a fresher looking complex. Next comes the Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay (£16). Know to be used by Moroccan women for its skin tightening properties, this clay mask is perfect for parts that sometimes need a bit of TLC like the tummy and leg area. To complete the revitilising ritual, add a few drops of the Thai Lemongrass Massage Oil (£14) to your pulse points, or even better get your other half to give you a relaxing massage.

Blissful

Blissful is a ultimate body oil/ cream luxury ritual, with no scrub in sight! Start by massaging your body (head to toe) with Polynesian Monoi Beauty Oil (£16).  This oil contains the Tiare flower, said to provide fragrant skin and hair by the French Polynesian women. Then treat yourself to an indulgent body cream, the Hawaiian Kuki Cream (£23). The Kuki Cream contains the rich Kuki seed oil that is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins. It’s perfect for hydrating all skin types especially dry skin. To complete your blissful routine massage, add in some Tahitian Orchid massage oil (£14). Yes you guessed it, a few drops on your pulse points will do!

Mrs J’s verdict – Having been gifted the Hawaiian Kuki Cream* and Tahitian Orchid massage oil*, it was the Blissful ritual that was on my radar.  Perfect for my dehydrated skin post a holiday abroad and for indulging  in the English summer sun. The Hawaiian Kuki Cream sank and blended in well into my skin. The perfect consistency of not being too light or too thick, just perfect. Best of all and as cheesey as this sounds, did make me drift off into a a deep sleep just like I had stepped out of a spa! The Tahitian Orchid massage oil is…. well, it’s been great on the pulse points and now I’ve just got to convince Mr J to give me a massage!
