Morning All and welcome to my combined Advent Gift Guide – The Gift of Giving.

Whilst spending most of yesterday in bed fighting a bad cold and taking day and night nurse I had time to think about the real meaning of Christmas.  Christmas for me is a time of giving, sharing, family and happy memories.  It also made me think of all the people out there that are not as fortunate as me and while I have been posting gift guides and making my own gift lists.

Today’s post has been inspired by two of my friends Ruth and Mike who posted this message on Facebook: “Wishing all our family and friends a very Happy Christmas – we love you really but haven’t sent out cards this year, instead we are making a donation to Save The Children. Have a wonderful break, love those you’re with and remember those you’re not. Happy Christmas!!!”  I thought this was such a lovely idea and the perfect gift to give back to people that will really benefit from the money.

Save The Children are a charity that operate in over 120 countries, providing education and skills to children so that they can live a better and longer life.  They also aid better health care, child protection and have programs in place to reduce child poverty and hunger.  In addition to all of the above Save The Children provide response teams in times of emergency to give children basic life saving amenities such as as food and water.  So this year instead of asking for that extra gift, or spending all your spare cash in the January sales why not donate some money to a charity of your choice.
