LFHelloBeautiful – The May LookFantastic Beauty Box!

Hello May and hello #LFHelloBeautiful! I have been smiling all week so far. I mean who wouldn’t with the lovely sunny weather that we have had even though it’s now swiftly shifted to rain?! Come rain or shine, this month’s LookFantastic Beauty box arrived in all its bright glory, packed with beauty treats set to show off and grow the beauty we were born with. With a lot of premium brands being pushed back into the limelight such as Ren and Decleor, and some new additions such as Ioma, the balance of hair vs skincare was just right. In case you’re a new reader and are not familiar with the concept, read on. From as little as £11.25, LookFantastic beauty boxes are curated to showcase seven beauty brands/products all a mixture of full size and travel around a monthly theme. Each box comes with a beauty magazine and the latest copy of Elle Magazine.

So what’s in the box?

Ren Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial – A small sample but oh so powerful! Just two to three pumps over cleansed skin at night will give you that glow the next day. Working in a three-step routine, the serum first exfoliates the skin from the combination of acids in its formula. Then step two, the blend of magnesium, glycogen and omega oils work at healing and renewing. Lastly, step three, the skin gets maximum hydration, thus moisturising the skin. I’ve not really dabbled in a lot of Ren products and I know some people swear by them. This sample is possibly too small for me to make a considered purchase for a full size but it’s quite perfect for travelling with. Ten – it would be great to have some larger sample sizes!

Ioma Youthful Moisture Cream – Yay, we have a new brand! I love brand discovery so I was really happy to see this arrive. With one of two options available in each box, I received the Youthful Moisture cream. With a seven day supply packaged in what looks like a large tablet/capsule, it’s a great purchase for the frequent traveller. No more carrying heavy jars around that take up valuable baggage allowance. You can simply rip off desired quantity and pack for the number of days you are away. The little pods are infused with soya and cotton oil to aid the increased production of collagen in the skin, hence the youthful name. With seven days worth of pods, only time will tell what age people think I am post use!

Vichy Liftactiv – Another day, another cream! Again this is a brand that is great at producing good products and is perfect for people with really sensitive skin. It tones, brightens and hydrates the skin.

Declor Intense Nutrition Cream – The third cream in the box, it doesn’t have a tag line of removing wrinkles nor does it claim to make you look younger. As premium products do, this is an intensive hydration cream and what I would say is aimed at people with dry, dehydrated skin, and for use during the winter months. It’s the smell that I love, specifically the Argan oil.

Eve Lom Cleanser and Cloth – Some people love Eve Lom. Alas, I find that it just doesn’t agree with me. They may be a pioneer of the cleansing balm and whilst their formula works, I feel there are better balms and cleansers out there.

Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment by Revlon Professional- When it comes to hair products, I get really irritated when I see them in a beauty box. This coconut hair cream, however, I have to eat my words on. It smells divinely of coconuts and is a hair mask…. but without the annoyance (it’s leave on)! With the warmer weather and me trying to ditch those hair straighteners and embrace the natural curl, this coconut mask is perfect at restoring shine and smoothness.

Wet brush – Great at detangling hair without any snagging. I can’t say I’ve tried this one personally as I have about three already. So, if anyone is in need of a new hair brush….

Mrs J’s Verdict – As I am not new to the format of a monthly beauty box, I’d say this month left me a bit annoyed. The mixture of skincare and hair care was spot on numbers wise, but the products could have been better, newer and less repetitive. How many day creams does one box need anyway? However,  if you are a new subscriber and this is your first box starting from £11.25 (for goodies worth over £50, it’s well worth the price tag). Next month it would be great to see some makeup or nail items to keep us all in that summer glow! The Lookfantastic May box is out now and can be bought here.
