Lookfantastic May Box
If your a regular reader of mrsjonasrecommends.com your probably thinking – another beauty box! I know that even I’m thinking there has been a bit of a overload on the beauty box posts but don’t blame me, blame the beauty box companies that keep on feeding my addiction for a good ol’ beauty box. I promise that the next week’s posts are going to have a very different focus. If you’ve read my Lookfantastic posts before then you will know that each monthly box contains 6 beauty items, some full size and some sample size with a mixutre of skin, hair and body products. As this month’s box landed I was excited to see what was in the box as I hadn’t seen any spoilers, and with less than a week before I jet off on holiday it was all about taking some of these smaller samples away with me to save room in my suitcase for more clothes and shoes!
What’s in the box?
Eylure Perfect Lashes – I love a good false eyelash (although Mr J doesn’t ‘for chavs’). Whilst I’m lucky to have quite long lashes, there are times (or what I recall as rare and special occasionssuch as nights out with the girls) when the lashes have to come out. If you have never tried using false eyelashes, then it can take a bit of getting used to and requires a steady hand but well worth the time as they add volume and length. These Eylure Lashes have a self-adhesive strip which means NO glue, and NO mess. To shop the Eylure range click here.
Huile Prodigieuse – Multi Purpose Dry Oil – I’m a big fan of Nuxe. You can read my travel essentials post here. So whilst I’ve tried one of their best selling dry oils, I haven’t had the chance to try this one that looks like gold with a bit of shimmer in it. The Huile Prodigieuse is oil that can be applied to the face, body and hair. Due to the slight shimmer, my recommendation would be that this is the perfect dry oil to lather on in the summer or on a night out. Great for the shoulders, neck and legs for that extra sun kissed sparkle. This oil has definitely got a free pass into my suitcase. To shop the Nuxe range click here.
Omorovicza Cleansing Balm – I love a good balm, more so the facial cream balms as the cleansing balms are quite new to me. However, I love the concept of using a balm to clean your face. Plus, due to it’s consistency, it’s not messy and there is not chance of any leakages or spillages. The Omorovicza black cleansing balm is an award winning product made with black Hungarian Moor mud that is rich in calcium and magnesium to lift any dirt and impurities straight off the face. Looking at the balm it doesn’t look that appealing however it smells amazing. The mixture of of orange blossom and almond really awakens the senses. There were no clear instructions on how to use the balm but I think we are safe to say that taking a small amount balm and applying it to the face then rinsing it off with lukewarm water is standard protocol. Christophe Robin Regenerating Hair Mask – I was excited to try and test a new brand as I honestly have never heard of Christophe Robin before. Admittedly though, I am not a fan of hair masks not because I don’t think they work. I just find it a hassle to apply a hair mask, wait and freeze in the shower or have to go and rinse your hair again after ten minutes when you’ve just come out of the shower. This is more down to me always being in a rush rather than having hours to just pamper myself. Back to the mask – I love the sample size and the fact that I can see the colour and contents of the mask. On opening the lid, the burst of smell is quite captivating (the kind of smell you get in a luxurious spa). The distinctive smell is of prickly pear seed oil, which is apparently one of the most expensive oils in the world, mixed in with a vitamin E concentrate. The mask smooths and conditions the hair and for those of you that colour your hair, it protects and boosts your colour. To shop the Christophe Robin range click here.
Transphuse Serum – Transphuse is another brand that is totally new to me. This serum is meant to be applied nightly to plump fine lines and make the skin look firmer and more youthful. I have a few serums that I have tried and tested but haven’t really persisted to see if they make a difference. Maybe as I get older I will have to start regularly using a serum but for now ignorance is bliss. I will be trying this serum out but not sure if the sample size is big enough to make a decision on whether to repurchase or not. To shop the Transphuse range click here.
Tanworx Self tanning lotion – I would love to say that I am going to make use of this tanning lotion as it is a generous-sized tube, but sadly, my natural colourings permit me from doing so. The lotion itself is a hydrating lotion that works to create a professional natural tan at home. The packaging suggests to apply lotion to dry areas before applying the tanning lotion with a mit. (Please note the box did not come with a mit). To shop the Tanworx range click here.
Mrs J’s Verdict: Even though there were two items that I won’t be getting much use out of, over all, this month’s box was still a hit. Surely the first four items will be coming with me in my suitcase where I know I will have ample time to try and test them out whilst sipping on a cocktail by the pool!
