Four Men’s Fragrances you’ll want to wear this Winter.
I love masculine scents…on Mr J, on me (yes, sometimes I wear men’s fragrances), and just in general at this time of year; good, strong nostalgic scents that transport you to the origins of a particular fragrance’s ingredients. Most fragrances come with a story of their own – some that you want to live up to, others that evoke a memory for the creator that they want to share with you. What I find the most fascinating about fragrances is how, even with the same ingredients, one sole scent can smell slightly different on two different people due to the way their body chemistry adapts to that scent. Below are this season’s four luxurious fragrances for men that deserve a place underneath the Christmas tree!
“Jazz Club” Brooklyn, 2013 – £85
‘Jazz Club’ is woody, oriental, sweet and intoxicating. It’s a rich score, with a fresh vibrato at the start and a trio of pink peppercorns, citrus and neroli. Its rum notes play with orange and bitter orange, enriched with sage. A balmy base scent, styrax, is added to vanilla, tonka bean, vetiver, and tobacco leaves, lending an overall melody of leather and liquor.
“At the Barber’s” Madrid, 1992 – £85
Wanting to recreate that atmosphere of a clean fresh barber shop, the perfumer used the initial simulating surge of basil and lavender, warmed by gentle notes of tonic beans and white musk thereby producing ‘At the Barbers’.
Diesel Bad from £43.50 for 50ml
Diesel Bad to me, evokes that leather clad man magnet! With a bottle designed in also the same theme reminding you of a black leather biker jacket, it is not surprising to find a scent that has a certain woodiness to it. With a mixture of citrus notes, cold spices, cardamon, lavender, bergamot, caviar notes and tobacco and iris roots, this is one addictive scent!
Armani Code Profumo – from £55.80 for 60ml
As the latest addition to the Armani Code family, Armani Code Profumo is a seductive evening fragrance that is a true masculine scent. With head notes of mandarin essence, crisp green apple and cardamom, it is made further enticing with lavender notes, nutmeg essence and orange blossom at its heart, finishing with warm tonka bean. If you know your scents then you’ll know that this one is to be kept for those special occasions.
