Blo bar
I’ve always been envious of those ladies who casually pop to the hairdressers twice a week to get their hair blow dried! Oh how the other half live! Whilst I always blow dry/diffuse my hair depending on whether it’s straight or curly, I can never quite achieve that ‘I’ve just walked out of a salon’ effect! More the over the top, I look like I’ve backcombed the hell out of my hair and walked through a bush, backwards! So how have these ladies of leisure been achieving these blow dries? Well historically, probably by booking up their hair dresser months in advance so that they had a dedicated slot. These days, well, it’s all about the Blow Dry bars! A concept that started in the USA, it has made it way over here. Blo Bar is designed to be just like popping into a bar and choosing your cocktail of choice where you walk in and pick your hairstyle of choice. Be it a simple wash and blow dry, Hollywood glam, curls or braids – the options are endless. This easy, no-fuss concept is great for nights out after work when you want a little revamp, as a treat, or for big groups for birthdays or hen do’s!
Having never been for a blow dry, when Blo invited me to test out their fabulous service, I was game! Nestled right in the middle of Covent Garden’s Piazza (right near the very loud Opera Singers) is the Blo Bar. I was warmly greeted by Michaela, my stylist for the next 45 min or so, seated, and handed a hair menu to browse though whilst she kindly went off to make me a coffee.
So what did the hair menu consist of?
Holly Would – channel your inner femme with plenty of curl and bounce.
Executive Sweet – we are talking skyscraper straight.
Pillow Talk – sultry, tousled, bed head.
Hunt Club – the perfect pony.
High Society – this coif is guaranteed to get you whatever you want.
So what did I choose? Well none of the above as Blo also offers braiding, extensions and bespoke styling… so keep reading!
After a quick chat on what kind of hair type I had, Michaela washed my hair and then the magic began.
45 mins later, this happened….
Waterfall Braids with curls.
Blo Salons use ‘Unite’ products, which are totally new to me. I was a bit concerned that my hair would feel heavy and weighed down in product, but it was quite the opposite.
Blow drys and styling start from £28 at Blo.

Now all I have to do is try and recreate the same look!
