Beach Side Essentials Part Two

Beach Side Beauty Essentials

If you’ve been following my recent travels via my last two posts, you will know that they have taken on the all-encompassing holiday theme. Covering the pre-holiday prep in the form of exfoliation are my holiday mini-hero’s here. Today and in future posts to come, the post holiday makeup colour match dilemma! So it’s only fair that I throw in my beach essentials part two, to accompany my beach essentials part one that I wrote on my recent trip to Jamaica that you can read about here.

So what are my current essentials?

Firstly we have the Mio Double Buff Exfoliator. Mio products have the tag line of ‘fit skin for life’ and their core range is aimed at active people who want beauty products that compliment their lifestyle and firm their skin as they train. Whilst I’m not an athlete I think the level of exercise that I do/don’t do qualifies for me to use this product. The double buff exfoliator is very light and the perfect complement to your already pre-buffed holiday body. It’s also great to use once or twice a week when having a shower to keep your skin in good condition and to prolong that tan. It’s so gentle it can be also used on your face. Think of this as more of a polish rather than an exfoliator. With Pumice, Lava and Bamboo blended with Papaya and Pineapple, this is a product that smells good enough to eat!

Next we have an aftersun in the form of a high street favourite Nivea! With so many body lotions, potions and oils out on the market, aftersun can sometimes be an afterthought unless you’re sunburnt! Then it becomes your friend. What people forget is that our skin is not used to hours of exposure to the sun. Even with high levels of sun protection on, skin gets more dehydrated with each minute spent in the sun. So whist yes we can keep on drinking water, it is important to rehydrate our skin at the end of the day and Nivea Aftersun, with its cooling and tan prolonging properties, is the first thing I reach for after stepping out of the shower. Why have I picked Nivea? Well it’s good value for money especially as part of a 3-for-2 offer in the summer. It soaks into my skin perfectly without leaving that after clammy feeling and it smells good! It also contains aloe vera that cools and soothes the skin. Then once I’m ready dressed and made up for the evening, I complete my look with lipstick and a splash or dab of the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil to areas that capture the light (neck, shoulders, legs) for a perfect bronzed effect. If you have never tried dry oil before then you really must. These multipurpose dry oils can be used on the face, body and hair and work to nourish and repair those areas. But best of all, it’s an oil that is dry with a non-greasy formula.

Lastly we draw our attention to our hair. Post washing my hair, lazing around on a sunbed is the perfect time to use a hair mask or add some dry oil into your hair post shampoo. When on holiday, due to exposure to the sun, chlorine and the odd massage oil here and there, I tend to wash my hair daily. But then when hanging out on the beach, there is nothing better than sporting that beach hair look. So to avoid overloading my hair with products, I have gone with the simple sea salt spray option that when leaving hair to dry naturally or with a little help from a hair diffuser, gives a great beach wave look. My chosen choice of spray is from the Tresemme Perfectly (un)done range – Wave creating sea foam for soft waves.

Are you planning a cheeky winter sun getaway? What are your beach side essentials?
