Beach Side Beauty Essentials Part One

Beach Side Beauty Essentials Part 1

Island life – a lifestyle that I was born for.  If you have been keeping up with my weekly posts, you will know that I was planning a trip away to sunnier climes and yes, I have landed in paradise otherwise known as the beautiful Island of Jamaica!  With a view of long sandy stretch of beach right on my porch, clear blue water, a can of Red Stripe Beer and of course Jerk Chicken – what more could a girl want!

I wanted this post to highlight the importance of looking after yourself and your skin in the heat. Below are my Beach Side essentials.

Water – Drink lots of water and stay hydrated. With increased temperatures, we all tend to sweat more so it’s important to replace those lost fluids with water and not just cocktails by the pool.  Thus, my tendency to carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go.  Yet, I also have to drop in here that I actually don’t like the taste of water so I probably don’t drink as much as I should on a daily basis. However, since I started drinking Fuji Water, I just can’t get enough of it!

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water – I’ve written about La Roche- Posay before in my Pool Side Essentials Post here. La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water is water in a can.  Yes it sounds quite extravagant, but on a very hot day there is nothing more refreshing than spraying your face with a cooling mist.  To buy a can of Thermal Spring Water click here.

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection Factor 30 – People often make the misconception that if you have darker skin (like mine), that lying under the sun won’t get you burnt.  I beg to disagree. I might be dark skinned but, just like my friends who are paler than me, I love getting in the sun and catching a tan.  Living in a country where we see more rain and cold wind than sun, I’d say a bit of Vitamin D would give any skin tone some well needed love. It’s also good for general well being and for maintaining healthy bones.  To avoid getting burnt especially on my face I tend to start any holiday with good old factor 50 sun protection cream, moving to factor 30 as the week goes on. My favourite Sun cream is Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection in Factor 30. The lotion softens skin, is non greasy, leaves skin with a glow and best of all, it smells amazing – a tropical scent that is a mixture of coconut and shea butter.  To buy some Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection lotion, click here.
